By Laws and Legislative Committee

The Bylaws and Legislative Committee is comprised of one Chair, one 1st Vice-Chair, and up to six at large members. The Committee Chair is nominated by the President and approved by the Executive Committee and serves a two-year term.

The Committee Chair cannot serve sequential terms. Half the committee members rotate off each year to allow for new representatives while assuring continuity in operations. Sensitivity will be given to ensure diversity among the committee members.

Committee Responsibilities

The Bylaws and Legislative Committee is a permanent CRRWC Standing Committee. The Committee's duties are to insure that motions from the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors are within the guidelines of the CRRWC Bylaws and that proposed changes in the Bylaws are in agreement with GFRW Bylaws. The Committee will study problems concerning CRRWC's Bylaws; interpret Bylaw questions; draft possible amendments to the Bylaws; and, implement solutions to Bylaw-related problems. The Committee may propose changes to a Bylaw for the Executive Committee to consider. Any Bylaw proposed by a member of the Executive Committee or Board of Directors must first be reviewed by the Bylaws Committee prior to its presentation to the Voting Membership for approval or rejection.

The Committee is responsible for coordinating CCRWC's legislative involvement, communicating with the membership about local, state or federal legislation concerns, enhancing legislative understanding, and encouraging the involvement of CRRWC members in the legislative process.

Goals (2010 - 2012)

Ensure compliance with current CRRWC and GFRW Bylaws
Work with GFRW to update CRRWC Bylaws to provide clarity and alignment
Develop a 2 year Strategic Plan for Legislative involvement activities
Conduct a membership survey to solicit feedback and ideas
Look at ways we can use technologies to increase membership involvement in Legislative activities.
